A section of the Maroochy River revetment wall adjacent to Bradman Avenue, east of Chambers Island Bridge, in Maroochydore is about to be renewed with works starting this week.
The works will include demolition and removal of existing rock revetment wall, upgrade of the stormwater outlet and installation of the new rock revetment wall.
Without this important work, it is possible that severe erosion could occur, causing damage to the riverfront open space area along Bradman Avenue.
This renewal will ensure the revetment wall continues to protect the Maroochy River’s precious riverfront infrastructure for years to come, providing an ongoing service to the community of these valued adjacent facilities.
The project is scheduled to be completed in early October 2018. The timeframe for works is subject to favourable tidal and weather conditions during the construction period.
Traffic management measures will be in place to ensure the safety of pedestrians and motorists.
For public safety, a temporary pedestrian access pathway will be in place throughout the construction works.
Division 8 Cr Jason O'Pray said the project would ensure the community has an area that is more resilient to the prevailing conditions and ensure safety on this popular section of the Coastal Pathway.
