Join a free creative workshop during May and June and have your work included in the next Caloundra Regional Gallery exhibition, Passing Through: Project Another Country by renowned Filipino-Australian artists Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan.

The gallery and Sunshine Coast Libraries will host the free workshops titled Artwork in a box: Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan, a QUT Art Museum touring education program.

Inspired by the work of the Aquilizans, both children and adults can make their own cardboard boat which can then be displayed in the gallery during the exhibition or taken home to keep.

There’s no need to book. The workshops are free-flowing, inclusive for all ages and all materials are supplied.

Artwork in a box: Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan is a QUT Art Museum touring education program. This program is a QUT Widening Participation initiative funded by the Australia Government’s Higher Education Participation and Partnerships Program.

Passing Through: Project Another Country by Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan will be on display from June 21 until August 13, 2017.

Owned and operated by Sunshine Coast Council, Caloundra Regional Gallery is located at 22 Omrah Avenue and is open Tuesday to Friday 10am - 4pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am - 2pm.

About the artists: Originally from the Philippines, Alfredo and Isabel Aquilizan migrated to Brisbane in 2006, following their participation in the 5th Asia Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT5), the artists also exhibited in APT3 in 1999. Their work has also been featured in the 2006 Biennale of Sydney, ‘Zones of Contact’, the Singapore Biennale, 2008 and the Venice Biennale, 2003. Their project ‘In-habit: Project Another Country’, exhibited at the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation, Sydney in 2012 and the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa Japan, travelled to venues throughout regional Queensland and New South Wales between 2013 and 2015.
