Andrew McMillan, an award winning author based in the Northern Territory, will be guest speaker at the Maleny Library on Tuesday 12 May at 5.30pm.

Andrew began his writing career freelancing for national music magazines as a secondary school student in Brisbane in 1975.

Now based in Darwin, he’s the author of several non-fiction books including the critically acclaimed Strict Rules: The Blackfella-Whitefella Tour - an account of the 1986 MidnightOil / Warumpi Band tour of NT Aboriginal communities, Death In Dili, Catalina Dreaming, Tiwi Footy and the 2009 NT Book of the Year - An Intruder’s Guide To East Arnhem Land.

He has also written a play, won awards for poetry, short stories and essays, and writes lyrics for a singer in Sweden.

During his visit to Maleny, he looks forward to chatting about his career, answering audience questions and hopefully inspiring budding writers to put pen to paper, fingertip to key.

The event is free and light refreshments will be served. Bookings are required, please call the library direct on 5429 6222 to secure your place. Maleny Library is located at 5 Coral Street, Maleny.
