After paddling and dragging a kayak on a gruelling 3,000 kilometre journey, you might expect river campaigner Steve Posselt to have run out of puff.
But the former water engineer’s battle to protect Australia’s river systems is still raging strong, and he will share the story behind his journey to the heart of Australia’s water crisis at a special author talk at Caloundra Library on Tuesday 28 July at 10am.
Posselt is well-known for his 2007 kayak journey that saw him travel the full length of the Darling and lower Murray River from Brisbane to Adelaide to see first-hand the state of Australia’s river systems.
Along the way, Posselt drew a growing audience as he stopped to make regular reports on the ailing health of the rivers and spoke with local communities on his passion for rivers and climate change.
This journey forms the basis of his new book Cry Me a River, which documents Posselt’s epic kayak journey and takes a confronting look at the health of Australia’s river systems.
Posselt will speak about his new book at the author talk at Caloundra Library on July 28, as well as show a collection of photographs taken along his 3,000 kilometre journey.
A passionate speaker and river campaigner, Posselt has received high accolades for his speaking engagements. Don’t miss out on your chance to hear about Posselt’s fascinating river journey.
