Surf sports fans around the world will be able to tune into The Aussies 2016 through a live streaming service provided by Surf Life Saving Australia.
Both weekends of The Aussies 2016 on the Sunshine Coast will be available to view in Hi-Definition on a dedicated live streaming viewing platform.
And to make it even easier to tune into the action, fans will be able to sign up for an SMS reminder service which sends you an alert to let you know when an event you are interested in is about to commence.
The live streaming service starts with the Youth Championships on Saturday and continues across the entire weekend. The best young athletes in the country will be on show live from Maroochydore Beach as they chase individual and teams national titles.
It will continue over the finals weekend of the Open Championships on April 23 and 24 with two live channels running concurrently.
On the Saturday you will be able to see the penultimate day of racing from Maroochydore or the speedsters of the sand contest beach finals from Mooloolaba.
The following day, the show-stopping finale to The Aussies 2016, including iconic events such as the ironman and ironwoman finals and the taplin relays will be broadcast from Maroochydore.
Sunday will also feature a dedicated channel showcasing the surf boat finals from Alexandra Headland.
“The live streaming service was something that Surf Life Saving Australia committed to last year and it received a positive response not just from the membership but from the broader community,” SLSA Sport Manager Shane Knight said.
“This is a significant investment from SLSA but we are delighted to be able to offer it again in 2016 and we look forward to seeing the live stream viewership continue to grow as the public becomes more aware of its availability.”
“Surf lifesaving boasts some of the best athletes in any sport anywhere in the world and the live streaming service is a great opportunity to show off their amazing skills.”
