Sunshine Coast Mayor Mark Jamieson today cut the ribbon to open a five-star Arcare aged care centre in Maroochydore.

Arcare is a Melbourne-based aged care provider with 22 five-star aged care residential communities across Victoria and Queensland.

“This is the second Arcare centre to open here on the Sunshine Coast,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“I had the pleasure of opening the first centre, in Peregian Springs in March of last year, and was happy to learn that it has proved to be Arcare’s most successful residence in its 15-year history.

“The quality of Arcare’s centres is extremely high and I believe the Maroochydore centre will prove to be every bit as successful as Peregian Springs has been.”

Once Arcare Maroochydore is fully operational it will employ another 90 people in the region, Arcare Queensland Manager Karen Carey said.

“It has already received strong interest and will be welcoming residents when it opens its doors on June 30,” she said.

“Arcare’s new Maroochydore residential community comprises a café, gift shop, hair salon, outdoor pergolas and theatre - raising the standards of residential aged care for those in Maroochydore.”

This will bring Arcare’s employment levels on the Sunshine Coast to about 200.

The centre is a key project in the ongoing development of Maroochydore as the principal regional activity centre for the region.
