A sweet welcome to Beerwah

Pineapples are synonymous to Beerwah and GlassHouse Country and that will soon become apparent to everyone who visits.

The hinterland township is set to have its own unique entry sign as part of Sunshine Coast Council’s Caloundra City Image Project.

Division 1 Councillor Anna Grosskreutz said the design for the new sign had been completed and tenders would be called for in the near future.

"The pineapple industry has been and continues to be such an important one for Beerwah and that will be recognised and symbolised in the new town entry signs," she said.

"Local artist Sarah Rayner came up with the designs and they will materialise over the next few months as the signs are constructed and installed at the entry to the town – the intersection of Steve Irwin Way and the new town by-pass.

"This continues council’s work in designing and installing unique town entry signs in the GlassHouse Country Region, including Landborough, Beerburrum and the Glasshouse Mountains."

Cr Grosskreutz said council recently installed the first of these township statements at the GlassHouse Mountains as part of the placemaking project for the township.

"Steve Irwin Way is an iconic road with wonderfull landmarks along the scenic drive and the entry statements to each township will add to the look and feel of our region," she said.
