It’s not the end to 2020 we had hoped for, but unfortunately due to COVID-19 restrictions, particularly social distancing and contact tracing requirements, public Sunshine Coast New Year’s Events are not able to proceed.

The traditional New Year’s Eve Mooloolaba event, and the community events in Coolum and Caloundra, have been cancelled and there will be no fireworks.

Despite the public events not proceeding, the community can still celebrate and welcome in 2021 at one of the many restaurants and venues across the region or enjoy a quieter celebration at home with family and close friends.

To ensure community safety, Queensland Police will have resources out across the region, particularly in Mooloolaba, Coolum and Caloundra, and as always, on the roads.

If you are not attending a restaurant, venue or other private event, you are encouraged to stay home this NYE.

Please stay safe this New Year’s Eve.
