One of the Sunshine Coast’s most picturesque and popular tourist drawcards is now even more appealing.

The hinterland town of Eumundi today (July 26) unveiled a new splash of colour on its public waste bins in Memorial Drive and the Caplick Way underpass.

Division 10 Councillor Greg Rogerson said a dozen artists from the Sunshine Coast and interstate had put their talents to work in the community-initiated project.

“The artworks on Caplick Way underpass and on the bin art panels in Memorial Drive were created during the 2017 Horizon Festival. They were created by 12 artists from the Sunshine Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane who engaged with visitors as they painted,” Cr Rogerson said.

“Eumundi is a jewel in the Sunshine Coast crown and projects like this all contribute to making the town a destination of choice for locals and tourists 365 days a year, rather than just the two market days of Wednesday and Saturday.”

The $10,000 street art project was funded by council’s Horizon Festival, the Eumundi and District Community Organisation, Experience Eumundi, Eumundi Chamber of Commerce and Eumundi Historical Association.
