Cat Awareness Week runs 8–14 December 2025

Register and microchip your cat

Register and microchip your cat

From 13 weeks of age all cats must be registered with Council and microchipped by law. This is the best way to ensure your cat is returned quickly if lost or found injured.

Free microchipping offer

Council is offering free microchipping for the first 10 cats at the SCARS Caturday event. No booking required, come along on Saturday 13 December.

Cats must NOT be currently registered to receive this free service but will be registered on the day (Conditions apply).

Enquiries: [email protected].

No need to roam – keep your cat at home

No need to roam – keep your cat at home

Cat owners are required by law to contain their cats to their property at all times. Cats that are allowed to roam are a danger to wildlife and at risk of getting lost or injured. For more details, see our Cats on the Coast booklet (PDF 853KB).

Teach the next generation to be a ‘Cat Protector’!

Teach the next generation to be a ‘Cat Protector’!

Council has written a wonderful children’s book called 'Sasha’s New Home', to teach our younger cat lovers how to care for their furry friends. Available to borrow at Council’s libraries.
