Build confidence around water this summer
People who are new to Australia are invited to take part in the free Royal Life Saving Queensland Migrant Water Safety Program, returning to Nambour this October.
Designed for people with limited experience around water, the program focuses on building confidence, increasing awareness of water hazards and developing practical skills that can help keep individuals and families safe.
Program details
Dates: Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026
Session time: 8-9am
Venue: Nambour Aquatic Centre
Beach Day: Saturday 31 October 2026
Participants will also receive a free swim pack including goggles, a swim cap and water safety resources.
The program is free, but places are limited and bookings are essential.
Participants will learn how to:
- Swim safely in pools and open water
- Recognise dangers in pools, rivers and at the beach
- Respond safely to emergencies
- Build confidence for themselves and their families.
Qualified instructors and lifesavers will provide safe, structured lessons and teach life-saving and emergency response skills while helping participants become more comfortable in and around aquatic environments.
Proudly supported through Sunshine Coast Council's Community Grants Program, the initiative helps participants develop essential swimming and water safety skills in a safe, structured and supportive environment.
