Weeds on the Sunshine Coast

Any day that the war on weeds swings in the favour of the environmental crusader is certainly a day to reflect on. Such a day dawned at the book launch of Joan Heavey’s and Sonia MacDonald’s latest book - Weeds of the Sunshine Coast.

This field guide contains over 260 full size images of weeds of the Sunshine Coast categorised into herbs, trees and shrubs, vines and climbers, aquatic, sedges and grasses. As you turn the pages don’t be surprised to find your index finger involuntary twitching searching for the trigger of your chemical squirt bottle. Each of the weeds presented has a fabulous selection of images with a precise description of the diagnostic features. Early identification is the key to managing weeds and the authors haven’t left you wanting.

This is an imperative guide for anyone venturing into the bush. Congratulations Joan and Sonia, it is easy to tell that this has been a labour of love for you both.

Noosa Landcare, Annie's Books on Peregian, Written Dimensions (Noosa Junction), Berkelouw Books (Eumundi), and Noosa Parks Association are some of the outlets stocking it.
