January 2012A 42-million-dollar deal for Sunshine Coast Council to purchase the Horton Park Golf Club is gazetted by the State
July 2014Sunshine Coast Council gains full access to Horton Park site enabling works to commence
January 2015SunCentral Maroochydore Pty Ltd was registered with the Australia Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC)
March 2015John Knaggs appointed as the CEO of the newly created SunCentral
August 2019Site opened to the public by Minister Stirling Hinchcliffe and Mayor Jamieson at the People's Day Event 2019
September 2019Cable landing station opened by Queensland Premier and Minister for Trade Annastacia Palaszczuk, The Honourable Cameron Dick, Minister for State Development, Manufacturing, Infrastructure and Planning, and Mayor Mark Jamieson
October 2020Official opening of Foundation Place on South Sea Islander Way, Maroochydore City Centre’s first commercial office development
November 2020Sunshine Coast Council, SunCentral and Walker Corporation enter into a development agreement to drive to Maroochydore City Centre project forward
December 2020Interim at grade car park opened to the public providing 197 general car parking spaces and six person with a disability spaces
June 2021The Automated Waste Collection System (AWCS) is opened in the Maroochydore city centre. The first AWCS in Australia
July 2021Brisbane announced as the host of the 2032 Olympic Games. Maroochydore City Centre will be the location for the Sunshine Coast Satellite Village and will accommodate up to 1400 athletes
May 2022The Holiday Inn Express opens its doors to the public. The first large-scale, internationally branded and managed full-service hotel to be established on the Sunshine Coast in 30 years
June 2022Amanda Yeates appointed as new CEO of SunCentral
July 2022The first residents move into the newly developed Market Lane residences
December 2022Mayor Jamieson officially opens the Sunshine Coast City Hall to the public
August 2023Sod turning of 50 First Avenue by Walker Corporation
September 2023Construction starts on $100 million Private Hospital in Maroochydore City Centre
