Washington, New York, California, Toronto, Sunshine Coast. Wanderlust is the largest lifestyle event in the world and it’s heading here!

After first launching in Squaw Valley, California in 2009 - the event has grown to include over a dozen festivals across the Americas. And now Sunshine Coast is high on the list for adventure seekers, urban conscious consumers and yogis from around the world.

The global festival is a feel-good mix of yoga and meditation, outdoor activities, arts, music, organic food and spirituality. It’ll be staged on the Sunshine Coast for the first time from October 15 to 18 at the Novotel Twin Waters Resort.

Acting Mayor Cr Chris Thompson said the four-day event would provide significant benefits to the Sunshine Coast.

“Wanderlust is a globally recognised brand and movement that has an estimated reach of more than 800,000 devotees around the world so hosting a festival here will offer tremendous exposure to the Sunshine Coast,” he said.

“Among the key principles of this festival is sustainable practises including waste reduction and recycling so it aligns with council’s vision to be Australia’s most sustainable region – vibrant, green and diverse.”

Tourism, Sport and Major Events Portfolio Councillor Jason O’Pray said the festival was expected to attract around 3,000 participants and visitors.

“This will provide people from other parts of Australia and across the world a wonderful sample of what the Sunshine Coast has to offer,” he said.

“Council’s arrangement with Air New Zealand for flights into the Sunshine Coast Airport will provide easy visitor access for festival participants from New Zealand and the west coast of the USA.”

Wanderlust Festival Director Jonnie Halstead said the Sunshine Coast was an ideal setting for an event that globe-trots to some of the world’s most stunning locations.

“Wanderlust is excited to partner with Sunshine Coast Council, Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd  and Tourism Events Queensland to bring our fantastic festival here in October,” he said.

“We’re extremely selective when it comes to choosing suitable places to hold Wanderlust Festivals and the Sunshine Coast ticks all the right boxes.

“Wanderlust offers life-changing experiences for participants and that can only be achieved in very special locations – the Sunshine Coast certainly fits this bill.

“The October festival at Twin Waters will include yoga with world-renowned instructors, musical performances from popular artists like Donovan Frankenreiter & Sneak Sound System, organic food, art, outdoor activities like hiking, stand up paddle

boarding, surfing, biking & more, plus motivational talks in awe-inspiring settings. This is an experience that gets into your mind, body and soul."
