In a coup for the Sunshine Coast, council’s library service has booked a lunch date with one of Australia’s most famous authors – and the public can win a seat at the table by guessing who it is.

Manager of council’s Learning Communities branch, Ross Duncan, said he was excited to have an author of such significance visiting the Coast.

“We were successful in securing this author to talk to our community because of the excellent level of support our libraries enjoy from locals,” said Mr Duncan.

“We don’t want to give away the identity of the author just yet as we’re conducting a competition to win two tickets to attend this author event in Noosa on Wednesday 22 September 2010.”

A series of clues about the author will be revealed to assist the community in cracking the mystery author’s identity – the first of these is: “An Australian Living Treasure”. Two other clues will be released on the libraries website in the coming weeks.

Services Delivery Portfolio Councillor Paul Tatton said that council’s libraries had been developing and implementing many interesting programs and activities for the community, and this competition was an example of the growing reputation of the Sunshine Coast Council’s library service.

“To be able to attract such a fantastic author to the Coast is a demonstration of the quality of service council is delivering to the community,” said Cr Tatton.

The Sunshine Coast visit is one of three stops the author will make on this Australian tour.

For a chance to win this great prize - two lunch tickets valued at $80 - with this exceptional writer, simply cast your guess online, email [email protected] or fill out an entry form at a local library branch.

Entrants are free to enter as many times as they wish before the closing date of 30 July 2010.

The winner will be drawn randomly from a list of people who have guessed correctly.

More information is available on the Library website.
