Thriving Through Change 2026 inspires Sunshine Coast businesses

More than 300 local business owners, entrepreneurs and industry leaders came together for an inspiring afternoon focused on building resilient, future-ready businesses.
Thriving Through Change is Sunshine Coast Council’s annual business resilience and growth event.
Every year it delivers practical strategies, fresh perspectives and valuable networking opportunities, with an impressive lineup of speakers sharing firsthand experiences of navigating change and driving business success.
In opening the event, Mayor Rosanna Natoli acknowledged the important role local businesses play in the region's success.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our local economy,” Mayor Natoli said.
“Whether you run a small or family business, a growing enterprise or support industry across our region, your work helps make the Sunshine Coast one of the most dynamic and resilient regional economies in Australia.”
The mayor also recognised the challenges facing businesses while highlighting the region's capacity to respond and grow.
“We know many businesses continue to navigate rising costs, workforce challenges and economic uncertainty, but we also know that Sunshine Coast businesses have a remarkable ability to adapt, innovate and seize new opportunities,” she said.

Keynote speaker Effie Zahos challenged attendees to better understand changing consumer behaviours and focus on their core strengths to remain competitive. Industry leaders Tony Kelly, Rob Rand and Karmin Kenny also shared powerful insights on customer value, data-driven decision-making, adaptability and entrepreneurial growth, offering practical takeaways that businesses can apply immediately.
Beyond the speaker program, attendees connected with fellow business owners, industry experts and innovators, while exploring opportunities through 40 exhibitors showcasing business support services, resources and solutions designed to help local enterprises grow and thrive.
Mayor Natoli said the event came at an important time for the region.
“The Sunshine Coast is entering one of the most exciting periods in our history,” she said.
“Looking ahead, the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games present a once-in-a-generation opportunity for our region.”
