Sunshine Coast Council together with partners, Sunshine Coast Environment Council, SEQ Catchments, and University of the Sunshine Coast proudly present the World Environment Day festival, 21 June, University of the Sunshine Coast.

The festival will open with dancing from the Gubbi Gubbi people followed by a welcome to country from Aboriginal Elder, Anthony Beezley. Emeritus Professor Ian Lowe, will then commence the speakers program with a keynote address, ‘But what can I do?’

Concluding the festival, Professor Lowe will facilitate a forum, ‘Implementing Sustainability’, where Mayor Abbot will lead an impressive panel in discussing the way forward, how to make the Sunshine Coast the most sustainable region in the country. Key audience members include Councillors Keryn Jones, Russell Green, and Vivien Griffin who will participate in the interactive session.

From water supply options and renewable energy to entertainment, practical workshops, and displays, the festival includes a medley of information for anyone interested in the environment and the future of the Sunshine Coast.
