Sunshine Coast Council encourages local food and beverage producers to showcase their finest and freshest regional produce as the stars of the inaugural Sunshine Coast Food Show to be held at Novotel Twin Waters Resort from 20-21 February 2010.

Sunshine Coast Regional Council’s Economic Development and Entrepreneurship Portfolio Chair, Councillor Lew Brennan said food tourism and food related events help support council’s objective of ensuring a mature, diverse, robust and sustainable economy.

“One of our priorities is to create a wider base of economic sectors to enable the growth of more jobs across the region,” Cr Lew Brennan said.

“Given the Sunshine Coast region boasts a cornucopia of delicious delicacies produced by local businesses, as part of council’s economic development strategy, council is sponsoring this food show that will promote and showcase their produce” he said.

“I encourage all local producers to consider participating in the event and to take advantage of the major exhibitor incentives available for local businesses.”

“The Sunshine Coast Food Show is a great chance for local businesses to showcase and sell the wide variety of local produce available in the region.”

The Sunshine Coast Food Show already has a number of commitments in place from local stallholders offering tomatoes, cheeses, native foods, spring water, nuts, gelati, curry pastes and more for visitors to try, taste and buy.

Following a six course degustation dinner on the Saturday night featuring local produce, Sunday will see a four hour smorgasbord of local flavours on display from 12noon-4pm.

Local growers, food and beverage producers will rub shoulders with other exhibitors and thousands of visitors including MasterChef Australia judge, celebrity chef and restaurateur, George Calombaris.

An exciting entertainment line-up will be included as part of the event.

Exhibitors interested in participating in the Sunshine Coast Food Show should contact Novotel Twin Waters’ Food and Beverage department on free call 1800 072 277 and state that they are local producers. Special accommodation rates are also available.
