The Sunshine Coast Council pound at Sippy Creek Road in Tanawha will be closed today, as it does not have power.

People can take animals to any vet as an alternative.

Arrangements for collections will be made once power is restored.

Sunshine Coast Local Disaster Management Group co-ordinator Andrew Ryan thanked the community for their patience while the clean-up was underway.

“We do thank you everyone in the community who is reporting fallen trees and issues, and picking up stray animals, while we respond to the weather event,” My Ryan said.

“We have informed vets of the situation at the pound and these alternative arrangements, and will provide further advice once power is restored.”

Road closures continue to be updated on Disaster Hub at www.disaster.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.

Further updates will be issued as required.
