Be prepared for a weekend of adventure, learning, shopping and entertainment when the 2017 Sunshine Coast Home Show and Caravan, Camping and Boating Expo returns to council’s Kawana Sports Precinct from October 13-15.

In 1992, Australian Events managing director Bob Carroll hatched a plan to bring a major home show event to the Sunshine Coast, an event the region had been lacking for many years.

Devising the event from their kitchen table in Mountain Creek and making hundreds of calls to local businesses to drum up support for the inaugural event, it all came together with 120 local companies filling three big top circus styled pavilions at what is now known as Kawana Sports Precinct.

Fast forward to 2017 and the Sunshine Coast Home Show and Caravan, Camping and Boating Expo will celebrate 25 years and is now recognised as the Sunshine Coast’s largest home and outdoor adventure event.

Mr Carroll said this year’s expo would feature more than 230 companies travelling from all around Australia to showcase their goods to more than 15,000 visitors from the Sunshine Coast and wider region across three days.

“There will be a massive 85m long air-conditioned pavilion that will house over 100 indoor home and lifestyle displays, while outdoors will see larger displays of pools, tanks, patios, solar and more” he said.

“Expect to see everything from outdoor adventure displays, the very latest in caravans and camper trailers, through to boats, kayaks, motor homes and vehicle accessories.

“Australian Events would like to thank both our exhibitors and patrons who have made this event the success that it is today.”

Division 3 Councillor Peter Cox said Kawana Sport Precinct had quickly gained a reputation as a preferred destination to stage national sporting, recreational and entertainment events.

“We love hosting the Sunshine Coast Home Show and Caravan, Camping and Boating Expo at Kawana Sports Precinct and look forward to celebrating their 25th anniversary milestone,” Cr Cox said.

“The precinct was well positioned for large events due to its central location and public transport connections.”
