Caloundra Regional Gallery has launched its 2026 exhibition program with The Brothers Gruchy – a major, digital‑first exhibition showcasing nine significant works by acclaimed Australian artists Tim and Mic Gruchy.
The Brothers Gruchy presents key works that explore the intersections of technological innovation with biological forms, human perception, artificial intelligence and synaesthesia.
Curated by and touring from Bundaberg Regional Galleries in partnership with Museums & Galleries Queensland, the exhibition highlights the artists’ extensive collaborative practice across video, multimedia and performative art since the mid‑1980s.
Growing up in Bundaberg, the Gruchy brothers have each forged internationally recognised careers while continuing to work together on ambitious digital and immersive projects.
Their subject matter spans themes of family and memory, Australian river systems, environmental change, industrial decline and the shifting nature of globalised landscapes.
Artist Tim Gruchy said sharing the exhibition nationally was both a privilege and a homecoming of sorts.
“In the work Anamnesis, I’ve taken very old slide projectors and combined them with material from our family archive – our family photographs – to create something deeply personal,” Mr Gruchy said.

Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli said the exhibition was a significant and exciting start to the gallery’s year.
“It’s wonderful to welcome an exhibition of this calibre to Caloundra Regional Gallery as we open our 2026 exhibition program,” Mayor Natoli said.
“Showcasing Queensland‑born artists with such an impressive international footprint is a real privilege for our community.
“The Brothers Gruchy exhibition offers audiences an imaginative and compelling exploration of technology, environment and memory, and we are delighted to present it here on the Sunshine Coast.”
The project has been assisted by the Australian Government’s Visions of Australia program and is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland.
Opening 6 February, the exhibition marks the first in the gallery’s newly announced 2026 program, with full details available on the Caloundra Regional Gallery
