Ms Robinson is currently Council’s Group Executive for Customer and Planning Services, responsible for reshaping the Council’s approach to customer-facing services, reinvigorating Council’s relationship with key community stakeholders and customising development and community response services.

She has also served as Director Major Projects and Strategic Property with Sunshine Coast Council, where she oversaw the Maroochydore City Centre project and assisted to lead Council’s negotiation with Walker Corporation’s $2.5 billion private sector investment in the CBD.

“As interim CEO, I intend to continue driving our positive culture, working with my experienced and committed executive leadership team colleagues to provide continued stability for our organisation,” Ms Robinson said.

“We will continue serving our community, focusing on our customers, building community trust and embracing sustainability while planning for our future.”

Sunshine Coast Council Mayor Rosanna Natoli expressed her confidence in Ms Robinson’s ability to provide organisational stability during the recruitment process for a permanent appointment.

“Debra is a highly skilled executive whose leadership qualities will ensure the organisation continues to deliver projects, services and events,” Mayor Natoli said.

“We are very fortunate to have an interim CEO of Debra’s calibre and we look forward to working with her and the executive leadership team.

“I can also confirm that Ms Robinson has indicated she will not be applying for the permanent role.

“This was important as we want to ensure the recruitment process is open, transparent and equitable for all candidates.”

Ms Robinson replaces Emma Thomas who has recently accepted a six-month appointment to lead the independent Games Venue and Legacy Delivery Authority.

Ms Robinson paid tribute to Ms Thomas and thanked her for her commitment to building a values-based culture.

“I would also like to express my personal gratitude to Emma for her dedication and valuable contribution to Council, which have positively impacted the organisation,” Ms Robinson said.

“Emma will be greatly missed and we wish her the very best in her future career endeavours.

“Her contribution to the many community groups in which she has been involved, has also been appreciated.”

Ms Robinson will start the interim CEO role when Ms Thomas leaves Sunshine Coast Council on June 14.
