The Nambour SES is on the move and will operate from new premises at Sunshine Coast Council’s Woombye depot from July 1.

Sunshine Coast Council’s Coordinator Disaster Management John Gallina said the new premises would provide a long term home for the SES unit.

“Moving from leased premises in Nambour to the council depot will benefit the Nambour SES unit’s volunteers and operations and, ultimately, the communities in and around Nambour who require their emergency services,” Mr Gallina said.

“It’s important that the SES has long term, stable premises so they can be as prepared as possible to help our communities when needed.”

SES Local Controller Janet Scott said the new location was close to many townships serviced by the unit.

“The council depot provides us with a great facility that is within close reach of Nambour, Woombye, Palmwoods and many other nearby townships”, said Ms Scott.

“The new facility is flood free and close to the highway for emergency response, and it will accommodate our needs well into the future.

“We work extremely closely with council and we are very appreciative of the support provided to the Nambour SES.

“We are always looking for volunteers to support our SES units, which in turn support our Sunshine Coast communities, and we’re hoping our membership numbers may increase with the move to Woombye.”
