Pink active wear everywhere

Pull on your pink active wear and limber up for the Ramsay Health Care Triathlon Pink this Sunday (March 31).

Sponsored by Sunshine Coast Council, the event is taking place at University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Participants can still register, with online entries closing this Friday 29 March at 12 Noon. Onsite entries are available from 2-4pm Saturday, and from 6am Sunday.

Tourism, Sport and Major Event’s portfolio councillor Jason O’Pray said the event had something for the whole family and catered for many levels of fitness and experience.

“An all-female triathlon is being held alongside Fun Run Pink, which is for males and females of all ages and the ULTRA distance for more experienced triathletes. There are also several shorter distances for beginners and two categories for Pink Kids,” Cr O’Pray said.

“Hosting events like this triathlon contributes to council’s healthy, smart, creative vision by attracting participants to the region and encouraging an active lifestyle.”

Sunday’s event is part of a series of events held in Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne, Gold Coast and Sydney with a $200,000 annual fundraising target.

The Ramsay Health Care Triathlon Pink series has raised more than $2.01 million for the National Breast Cancer Foundation which helps fund research into the prevention, detection, treatment and cure of breast cancer.

Sunshine Coast has a long history of hosting triathlons, including two of Australia’s biggest events, along with a range of smaller triathlon events which attract national and international visitors.
