Sunshine Coast Mayor Bob Abbot said major events grow the regional economy and by supporting them Council elevates the Coast’s reputation as a quality venue for professional events and festivals.
“High profile events like the PGA puts the Sunshine Coast on TV screens around the world with the national and international media coverage it attracts,” Cr Abbot said.
“We can’t pay for that amount of publicity and we all know the beauty of the Sunshine Coast speaks for itself.
“The knock on affect is dollars for local business and that’s good for the regional balance sheet”.
