Property powers to converge on Coast
Some of the world's leading property researchers and educators are set to gather on the Sunshine Coast for the 2016 Pacific Rim Real Estate Society Conference
Some of the world’s leading property educators and researchers are set to gather on the Sunshine Coast for the 2016 Pacific Rim Real Estate Society Conference.
The council-sponsored event will be held from January 17-20 at the University of Sunshine Coast and will involve around 150 delegates from more than a dozen different countries.
Mayor Mark Jamieson said the conference would provide important exposure to a number of the region’s key investment projects.
“The Pacific Rim Real Estate Society is a longstanding group of academics and practitioners within the property sector who meet annually for this conference,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“Exciting initiatives like our Airport expansion project, the solar farm, the undersea cable project and the smart city at Maroochydore make us an outstanding host region for this conference and this is an opportunity to showcase
them to some of the world’s leading property educators and researchers.”
“We also hope they will take back some of the opportunities and knowledge from what we’re doing on the Sunshine Coast and apply it in their home countries.”
University of Sunshine Coast Pro Vice Chancellor Michael Heffernan said it was an exciting opportunity for USC to host the international event.
“This will be the 22nd annual conference and it’s a fantastic opportunity for the Sunshine Coast to be hosting this event given how important the property construction, finance and professional services sectors are for our region – representing about one in five jobs for the Coast,” he said.
The four-day conference will involve delegates from Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Canada, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines. It will include an Industry Day where delegates will be joined by property and development industry leaders, developers and financers from across Australia and overseas.
Keynote speakers at this year’s conference will include:
- Warren Ebert – Managing Director, Sentinel Property Group
- Chris Mountford – Executive Director Queensland, Property Council of Australia
- Neil Bray – Valuer General, Department of Natural Resources and Mines.
