If you’re looking for a different way to explore the spectacular Noosa countryside, then consider walking, horse riding or mountain biking along one of the extensive trails that comprise the Noosa Trail Network.
Sunshine Coast Council Senior Planning Officer – Projects, Anne Warmbrunn said locals and visitors to the area had shown a huge amount of interest in the Noosa Trail Network.
“The trails vary in distance from an easy 5.5 kilometres to between 10 and 17 kilometres and, for the more adventurous, the Noosa Hinterland Circuit features a 40-kilometre hike,’’ Ms Warmbrunn said.
”There are plenty of signposts along the way to keep people on the right track and lots of picnic areas where they can enjoy a break.”
The trails are suitable for experienced horse riders and include conveniently located hitching rails and water tanks and troughs along the way.
Ms Warmbrunn said those who want more of an outdoor adventure, can plan to bush camp along the way; or for a little more comfort, spend a night at one of the area’s delightful country hotels or B&Bs.
The Sunshine Coast Regional Council’s newly revamped brochure provides a profile of each of the trails and plenty of information on the various walks and rides, including their length and fitness requirements. The brochure also includes other great tips to prepare you for your outing, from a code of conduct for horse and bike riders, to who to contact in Cooran if you want a hot shower.
You can pick up a Noosa Trails Network brochure from your nearest council office, library or visitor information centre. For more information, call Council’s Tewantin office on 5449 5166, or visit at www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.
