If you know a person, community group or organisation making a difference to life on the Coast, give them the recognition they deserve by nominating them for a 2018 Sunshine Coast Australia Day Award.
Mayor Mark Jamieson launched the awards today, (September 15) encouraging residents to nominate a local hero.
“In 2018, we will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Sunshine Coast Australia Day Awards,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“Over the past decade we have been able to recognise and honour an outstanding list of winners from a wide cross-section of our community – and I’m sure 2018 will be no different.
“You don’t have to be famous to be nominated for our Australia Day Awards, we’re looking for the unsung heroes.
“The person may be young or old, have achieved something truly special, it may have been a brave act, an act of unparalleled kindness, or an act of sacrifice for a greater good.
“We need to think about those who have made a difference to us all here on our Sunshine Coast and then we need to nominate them for a 2018 Sunshine Coast Australia Day Award.”
If you know a person, community group or organisation worthy of an award, nominate them now in one of the following categories:
- Citizen of the Year, sponsored by 7 News Sunshine Coast
- Young Citizen of the Year, sponsored by USC
- Senior Citizen on the Year, sponsored by Maroochy RSL
