Sunshine Coast Council has decided to divide the Brisbane Road Car Park site at Mooloolaba into two parcels and call for tenders to design and construct a multi-deck 700 bay car park on the northern parcel of land facing Smith Street.

Council will also call for Expressions of Interest for a variety of development proposals on the southern parcel of the property facing Brisbane Road.

Divisional councillor John Connolly said this process would identify the solution which best aligned with the interests of both the public and council.

“We can now get on with delivering the Brisbane Road Car Park site,” Cr Connolly said.

“This decision gives us the clarity to move forward.

“I believe this is what the community wants.”

Work will now commence to develop the design considerations and open tender process which is likely to be released to market in early 2019.
