Sunshine Coast Council has over 130 activities for residents to get involved in across the region over the summer school holidays.

Council’s community support officer for young people, Katie Edmiston said the School Holiday Program has something to interest all children, young people and families.

“Highlights of the program include activities such as mountain bike riding, Playstation play-offs and screenings of the Silly Billy’s movie,” Ms Edmiston said.

“Workshops are also being held on subjects such as Hip-Hop, visual arts and film making.

“Great family events include Carols by Candlelight at Cotton Tree and Kings Beach, Mooloolaba New Years Eve on the Esplanade and Australia Day celebrations.

The program’s calendar draws on a collaboration of activities hosted by council’s community development and events teams, council venues, libraries, galleries, leisure and aquatic centres, and TravelSmart.

“It is a great achievement to have pulled together all our activities so that the community has a one-stop-shop calendar that lists everything council is hosting,” Ms Edmiston said.

For further details or to download a school holiday calendar of events visit council’s website www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au or phone council on 5475 7272.

The program runs between 1 December 2008 and 26 January 2009.
