Best-selling author and raconteur Hugh Lunn will share tales of his childhood friend –Wimbledon doubles champion Kenny Fletcher – at a literary lunch in Noosa on Saturday 25 July.
Best-selling author and raconteur Hugh Lunn will share tales of his childhood friend –Wimbledon doubles champion Kenny Fletcher – at a literary lunch in Noosa on Saturday 25 July.
The lunch is part of the Reality Bites literary festival, which is set to serve up another round of top Australian authors, writers and filmmakers over the weekend of July 25 and 26.
Lunn, a multi-award winning journalist and author of 13 books, will share the story behind his humorous and insightful account of Fletcher at a two-course lunch on July 25 at The Boathouse in Noosa.
Lunn will recount how the boy from Brissie turned into a champion tennis player, going on to win 10 major doubles titles including a mixed doubles Grand Slam, all with his trademark humour and larrikin style.
Other events on Saturday include documentary filmmakers Oren Siedler, Suzanne Howard and Luke Barrowcliffe at the Butter Factory in Cooroy discussing the thrills and spills of filming on the road.
The session will include special screenings of their films including Returning Symbols about an Aboriginal artist who returns to his homeland; Dishlickers, which takes a look into the exuberant never-say-die culture of the greyhound track and Bruce and Me, a road movie set in Australia, the United States and Cuba on a daughter’s journey with her criminal father.
On Sunday, help is on hand for local aspiring authors, journalists, photographers, filmmakers and playwrights at Getting It Up, a pitching clinic where they can sell their story to a panel of industry experts including a major Australian publisher.
Later that day, author Peter Rodgers will take a confronting look at the deep-seated problems in the Middle East and discuss his new book Arabian Plights: The future Middle East at Embiggen Books in Noosaville.
