Community groups across the region will receive funding for 82 projects after Sunshine Coast Council today endorsed $541,175 for Community Grants.
Mayor Mark Jamieson said council’s funding supports a diverse range of projects including youth activities, multicultural festivals, facility upgrades and community gardens.
"The Community Grants Program is about helping all those volunteers who contribute so much to the region," Cr Jamieson said.
"Volunteers are the people who make our community so vibrant, without them a lot of great things on the Coast simply wouldn’t happen.
"These grants recognise that effort – and help them to get on with the job of helping to make the Coast a great place to live."
The Grants Program provides funding for projects in seven categories – community development, cultural development, economic development, environment, festive season activities, heritage and history, and sport, recreation and healthy living.
The next major round of council’s Community Grants Program will open in July and close on 1 September 2012. Further details are available on councils website.
