MOVIE goers can catch a horror cult classic and sci-fi wonder at the free outdoor movie screenings hosted by the Sunshine Coast Regonal Underground Film Festival for Youth (SCRUFFFY) at Felicity Park, Caloundra.

The free movie sessions will be held under the stars on Friday 22 May and again on Friday 5 June in the lead up to the SCRUFFFY film festival screenings beginning in June.

SCRUFFFY is an Australia-wide film-making competition run by young people with thousands of dollars in prizes and showcase spots up for grabs, plus workshops and film screenings.

SCRUFFFY’s free outdoor ‘Sinema’ will feature the horror cult classic Night of the Living Dead on 22 May, followed by the sci-fi hit Attack of the Giant Leeches on Friday 5 June.

Movies sessions will open at 6pm each night, with films starting at 6.30pm. There will be SCRUFFFY fundraising barbeques happening during the evening with vegan options available.

This year’s SCRUFFFY film festival has five competitions – horror, animation, comedy, extreme shorts and short narrative. Entries close on 28 May, so budding film makers had better get cracking!
