Caloundra Regional Gallery is the place to be on June 18 if you feel like a casual Talk and Tea while meeting Bernardine Hine − one of the region’s talented local textile artists.
Sunshine Coast Council Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the monthly Talk and Tea events were a chance to enjoy a cup of tea and refreshments while viewing some of the original works available for purchase in the Caloundra Regional Gallery shop.
“This provides local artists with the opportunity to present their works to the public in an informal and social space,” Cr Dwyer said.
“The next Talk and Tea event on Wednesday, June 18 at 10.30am is with one of our gallery shop artists, Bernardine Hine.
“Her passion is for creating art in textile form, all stitched with free motion on the sewing machine. Bernadine makes award winning quilts as well as embroideries and uses fabric dyes, paints and inks to create works with a "watercolour" like quality.
“Council is working towards a sustainable community by providing local artists and designers in the region a space to sell their hand made products to our visitors in the gallery shop.
“Locals and visitors can experience a unique and personal shopping experience while investing in our artists and the region.
“The gallery shop is perfect for gifts or personal indulgences. Everything from handmade cards, ceramic works, books, textiles and wearable works of art will tempt you at very affordable prices.”
Bookings for this event are essential and can be made by visiting the Caloundra Regional Gallery website.
Caloundra Regional Gallery is owned and operated by the Sunshine Coast Council. Located at 22 Omrah Avenue, the Gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday 10am to 4pm.
