Dorothy Baumann’s art depicts realistic landscape

Make sure you head to Council’s Maroochydore Library and experience the delightful Australian landscape exhibition by Dorothy Baumann on display until May 28.

Dorothy Baumann is a unique talent and works mainly with acrylics. Her paintings are based on the many images she captured while travelling around Australia experiencing the outback and visiting many galleries during this time. The vibrant Indigenous artworks inspired her to become bolder within her medium.

The itch to paint began when Dorothy was very young, but it was denied due to work and family commitments. In 1990, after a full year of tuition, a wonderful water colourist greatly impressed her. Not able to give this medium full justice, she tried acrylics and has been hooked ever since.

As a realist, her main aim within her paintings is to present an image that the viewer can relate to; an artwork that can be enjoyed time and time again. While her evolution from raw beginner to her efforts of today may have changed, she believes she is now painting for her own pleasure. Dorothy would like to continue painting, travelling and seeing with the artists eye to find that ‘special’ something which inspires her next work of art.
