If you are looking to build or develop land there are a number of ways to learn what you can and can’t do on your land.

Sunshine Coast Council has a dedicated development information counter at 10 First Avenue, Maroochydore, where you can obtain advice and assistance.

The council’s blueprint for decision-making on development across the region is our planning scheme. The Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme 2014 is a living document that guides the way land, buildings and structures are used and developed on the sunshine coast – to make sure the right development happens in the right locations.

Starting in May 2014, the scheme provides on set of policies and guidelines for development on the Sunshine Coast. Some key aspects of the new scheme are tighter controls on the height of buildings, highlightin of the enterprise corridor between Caloundra and Maroochydore, and emphasis on the importance of the inter-urban break between Caboolture and the coast. Individual development proposals can be tracked here: pdonlinesunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.
