Cr Thompson - Make the most of spring
Enjoy the best the Sunshine Coast has to offer with a visit to Sunshine Coast Holiday Parks.
If you’re looking to have some time out before the busy summer holiday season, why not consider a short stay at a local beachside holiday park? Sunshine Coast Holiday Parks are offering a great ‘Stay for 4, Pay for 3’ deal during Spring, which made me think about how much fun it could be to kick back and enjoy what our fantastic region has to offer. This is a great opportunity to gather your family and friends and rediscover your favourite beach. This special is valid Sunday to Thursday nights (excludes Friday & Saturday nights) until Thursday, December 3. There is limited site and cabin availability during the upcoming months, so check availability at www.sunshinecoastholidayparks.com.au …and get the beach cricket set ready.
Countdown to Aussies begins
Entries are now open for a nine-day celebration of surf lifesaving that will deliver an estimated $20 million in economic benefits to the Sunshine Coast. Hosted by the Maroochydore, Alexandra Headland and Mooloolaba surf lifesaving clubs, the Aussies will run from April 16-24, and will again include Youth, Masters and Open Championships. Bigger than the 2018 Commonwealth Games in terms of anticipated competitor numbers, the Aussies are expected to draw 7000 entrants from more than 200 surf lifesaving clubs from around the country, as well as a further 15,000 supporters, officials and family members. This will bring a welcome boost to our spectacular beachside communities.
Make a difference with the gift of literacy
If you’re looking for a good cause to support this Christmas, I strongly encourage you to consider donating the annual Books 4 Kids book drive so you can brighten a child’s life with the gift of reading. You can drop new children’s books into any library on the Coast, including the Maroochydore Library on Sixth Avenue and Kawana Library on Nanyima Street, until December 11 and you don’t even need to wrap the book. Council’s Libraries have partnered with Salvation Army on this fantastic initiative for the past 15 years.
