It was fantastic to attend the final round of the Australian Motocross Championships. The event was really well attended, the racing was outstanding and I understand that most of the accommodation in Coolum was booked out.

It was fantastic to attend the final round of the Australian Motocross Championships. The event was really well attended, the racing was outstanding and I understand that most of the accommodation in Coolum was booked out. This underlines the importance of attracting national events to our region.
Peregian Springs
It was great to get out and attend my bi-monthly Peregian Springs meet and greet to discuss local issues. One local issue is parking at the Peregian Springs State School. I have been working closely with the school and the SafeST committee to consider further compliance action with the police to ensure student safety at the pick up and drop off area. All attendees committed to providing additional education before the compliance action is to take place.
Horizon Festival 2018 program unveiled
Council recently unveiled an impressive 2018 program for Horizon Festival. It’s a packed 10 day program with even more local content this year – you can dip your toes in, or really immerse yourself and step outside your comfort zone. There are free and ticketed events across the region, including a few events at the Yaroomba Design Centre, Tickle Park and Point Arkwright – and the Dawn Awakening finale event at Stumers Creek, which will honour the Glossy Black Cockatoo through music, dance and spoken word alongside stunning visual art installations and projections.
