Woombye Community Breakfast

The Woombye Bendigo Bank Community Breakfast held earlier this month was very well attended. Local issues raised were the need to review the parking times in town, reduction of the speed limit through Blackall Street, vegetation trim around the garden bed adjacent to the disabled car park near the Woombye Bakery, review the pedestrian crossing in the view to maybe a raised crossing to provide additional pedestrian and vehicle protection.

Roundabout construction at Woombye/Palmwoods Road

As a result of an approved residential development in Abbotts Road, Palmwoods, a roundabout will be constructed to incorporate Winston Road/Nicklin Road/Abbotts Road in conjunction with the Palmwoods-Woombye Road. This is a significant piece of infrastructure that many of the local users have requested for many years.

The developer is required to fully fund the upgrade to the above intersection. Trees are being removed under the direction of Energex to underground the Energex Line. The Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) are responsible for the approval of the design which will be constructed by a contractor on behalf of the developer. DTMR have advised it will take approximately 12 weeks to build once the design is approved. I have asked DTMR to provide updated information to my office to me to keep the local and broader community updated.
