Cr McKay - Join the Summer Reading Club wild adventure

As well as many wonderful events and activities being held at Sunshine Coast Libraries throughout the region over the summer holidays to keep the kids entertained, I highly recommend they also participate in the Summer Reading Club. My grandchildren are all very excited to get involved in this great initiative which is all about encouraging a continued love of reading and ongoing multi-literacy skills development among children and young people.

New pound coming soon

A new animal pound to better accommodate and manage the region’s current and future small and large animal populations has now moved a step closer.  Council showed their commitment to safely house homeless, lost or abandoned animals by endorsing the design of a much needed new pound facility at Sippy Creek.

The proposed new pound is geographically central to the region’s animal management network and integral to servicing the Sunshine Coast Council area including domestic animals, livestock and poultry.

Work on construction of the new pound will commence at the earliest possible time, following a project cost review to be referred to the 2015/2016 Budget deliberation process.

Merry Christmas to all

As 2014 comes to a close, I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Christmas and New Year and a prosperous and enjoyable 2015. And as you go about the mad rush of last minute Christmas shopping, please remember to try and always shop locally and help support our wonderful local businesses wherever you can.
