Have your say Maleny

Residents can now have their say on the Maleny Recreation Draft Master Plan 2015-2030. The plan covers three key sport and recreation sites within the Maleny locality including the Maleny Showgrounds, Witta Sportsground and the sport and recreation leased land on the Maleny Community Precinct. Visit council’s website to view the draft plan and provide feedback by 5pm November 13.

Mary Cairncross

I recently attended the Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve ‘good neighbours’ day.  This event was a great opportunity for nearby residents to meet new neighbours, form connections with other locals who are part of the Mary Cairncross community, and learn together about common shared issues such as wild animals, weeds and sustainability. It truly highlighted how valuable and beneficial these partnerships are for both the management and protection of our stunning natural rainforest reserve and for our neighbours’ properties.

Witta Community Centre

The local community will be pleased to hear council has renewed the occupancy arrangement for the Old Witta School Community Centre Inc. to lease the centre and the surrounding grounds for a further 10 years. The group will continue to oversee the site’s use for community and private functions and preservation purposes.

Family fun at Tanawha

Do you like arts, animals, music and movies? Join the crowd at the Maroochy Bushland Botanic Gardens for a free afternoon of entertainment on November 14-15 from 2-8pm. Bring a picnic and enjoy live music, native animals, green art workshops, storytelling, face painting and seedling giveaways.  Also be sure to check out the stunning Sunshine Coast Art Prize Landscape and Wildlife photography exhibition and the Starry Night cinema screening of WALL•E from 6.30pm.

Woombye Rail Stabling information session

A note for Woombye residents – Queensland Rail is holding a Woombye Community Information session at CWA Park from 1-3pm, November 14. Residents will hear an update on the proposed SEQ Stabling Facility Project and have an opportunity to provide feedback.
