Cr McKay - Council partners with community on flying fox issues

Council continues to work with Palmwoods residents impacted by flying foxes.

As well as council officers meeting with local residents last week to discuss upcoming works to be undertaken in the vegetation corridor at Dunning Street, MP Andrew Powell and I will also hold an information forum on July 30 from 3 - 5pm at the Palmwoods Bowls Club.

An independent expert on flying foxes will also be at this forum where we will discuss council’s position to support the recommendation to create 25-50m vegetation buffers to alleviate residents’ concerns regarding noise and smell associated with the flying fox roosting.

There have been no flying foxes at the Dunning St roost since April.

Place Making Palmwoods

Council is seeking community feedback on the Palmwoods Draft Public Domain Masterplan that has been prepared following your previous input.

This Draft Masterplan will define the character, look and feel of the streets and spaces of the centre of Palmwoods. It will draw inspiration from the village’s identity and community values.

Come along to the community presentations at the Palmwoods Memorial Hall, Main Street on either 26 July from 8.30 - 10am or 31 July from 6 - 7.30pm

Alternatively, you can view the masterplan on council’s website and have your say from 28 July until 18 August.

Palmwoods toilet block upgrade

I’m pleased to advise the public amenities at Palmwoods AFL club will soon be undergoing a refurbishment. I’ll keep you posted regarding the construction schedule when it is determined.
