Sippy Downs driving ahead
Our skilled work crews have made significant progress on the final stage of the Sippy Downs Drive upgrade with the relocation of phone lines, water main and storm water services as well as installation of retaining walls and sound barriers. The University Way roundabout was replaced with traffic signals during night works in April. From August, traffic will be diverted to the new section to allow upgrades to commence on the old road. I know it’s frustrating to be held up on your way to work, uni or school. That’s why your patience during the upgrade work is very much appreciated. At this stage, we are on target to have the project completed before Christmas 2019.
Chancellor Park Soccer Club
I am a huge supporter of local sports clubs and with that in mind, I was so happy to sign off on a $1000 grant of ratepayer funds to help the Chancellor Park Soccer Club modernise their club canteen in Sippy Downs.
Bid to become a UNESCO Biosphere
A biosphere is a special place, where active conservation sits alongside responsible development and people living sustainably. I am proud council is leading the nomination for the Sunshine Coast to be recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere, an important credential which aligns with our vision to be Australia’s most sustainable region - healthy, smart, creative. I urge as many people as possible contribute to council’s nomination by taking part in the online survey which is open until June 28. Visit council’s website to be part of the consultation and discover more about this important initiative.
