Candidates need to identify their commitments to Sunshine Coast

With the upcoming State election I encourage all Division 1 residents to be crystal clear on what candidates and political parties policies are offering on critical rail, road and public transport infrastructure.Together we need to ensure that the Sunshine Coast receives a fairer share of funding in the future with funding commitments to the B2N rail duplication, Light Rail business case, Mooloolah River Interchange and Caloundra Road state infrastructure responsibilities topping the list. Make your voice and vote, valued!

Playtime 2018 heritage calendar

The annual Sunshine Coast Council Heritage Calendar is produced to celebrate the cultural heritage of our region, this year, showcasing photographs of people at play on the Sunshine Coast - swimming, surfing, boating, surf lifesaving, rock climbing, dancing, team sports and more.  Playtime - Celebrating leisure, sport and recreation showcases leisure on the Sunshine Coast from the 1930s to the 1980s.  The 2018 calendar features six personal images selected from community entries in the recent competition. It's a short run of a couple of thousand calendars and at $6 a pretty good trip down memory lane.  Purchase from council’s library branches and Customer Service Centres.

International Volunteer Day, December 5

On International Volunteer Day council pays tribute to our wonderful volunteers for their service to the Sunshine Coast community. Attend a free Volunteer Thank You Brunch at Lake Kawana Community Centre from 9am-1pm on Tuesday, December 5 and join in the celebrations. Enjoy presentations, live music by local classical guitarist Mattahn McNair and a delicious brunch catered by Caloundra Meals on Wheels. RSVP by November 17 via council’s website.

Healthy Sunshine Coast Get Out Get Active Program

Council’s Healthy Sunshine Coast program is about to get a welcomed boost – thanks to State Government’s Get Out, Get Active funding. From November 13 council will deliver a series of fitness and outdoor recreation classes to support women and girls wanting to be more active on the Coast.  Today is a new beginning – whether it is yoga, dancing or group fitness - make sure you join the movement and register to attend a class near you. Bookings via council’s website.
