Sunshine Coast Council has received a development application for a 140 bed aged care facility at Buderim and is urging the community to await full information before making submissions.

The proposed development at 112 Burnett Street, Buderim exceeds Sunshine Coast Planning Scheme height limits and is impact assessable, providing the requirement to advertise and the opportunity for public submissions.

Divisional councillor Ted Hungerford said the development application proposed a building of two storeys fronting Burnett Street, and three storeys (or 12.4 metres) at the rear of the development.

“It is expected that about 34 staff will be on site at any one time,” Cr Hungerford said.

“The development proposes primary access from Burnett Street, with service and emergency vehicles accessing the site from Pine Street

“The State Government will be required to assess the proposed access to Burnett Street, and provide their advice prior to Council making a decision.

“Council and the State Government have the opportunity to seek further information from the applicant prior to undergoing public consultation for a period of 15 working days.”

Cr Hungerford urged people interested in making a submission to do so during the public consultation period which would be advertised.

“As the applicant has up to six months to respond to any information request, the public consultation period is expected to occur later in the year,” he said.

A copy of the application and proposal plans can be found on council’s website www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au via the PD Online link, with the application number of MCU15/0116.
