Are you in a sports, social, bridge, recreation or arts and crafts club looking for a regular meeting place in the hinterland region?

Good news – Not-for-profit community groups are invited to tender for a unique opportunity to be the new tenant/lessee of Flaxton Hall at 43 Kondalilla Falls Road, Flaxton.  Applications close October 6.

Division 5 Councillor Jenny McKay said the facility had been empty for more than a year and Sunshine Coast Council was eager to see it activated and enjoyed as soon as possible.

“Flaxton Hall is in a fabulous tranquil, hinterland location, nestled beside the Cynthia Hunt Drive Bushland Conservation Reserve, and the stunning Kondalilla Falls,” Cr McKay said.

“The hall was previously leased by the Reserve to the Scout Association of Australia however this expired around a year ago and we are excited to see the high level of interest from a diverse range of groups for a variety of activities since we opened it up for tender.

“This shouldn’t really come as a surprise as the facility lends itself to all sorts of activities and uses.

“The hall upstairs is perfect for your active or recreational group activities like yoga, karate, meditation, book clubs and workshops.

“Meanwhile, downstairs, as the flooring is concrete, you can get a bit messier with projects like arts and crafts and woodwork.

“Outside there’s space for many outdoor active and recreational pursuits, and there’s a BBQ and undercover area perfect for different social functions and get-togethers.

“So whether you wish to occupy it full-time as the tenant, or open it up for multiple community uses, please be sure to get your tender application in before the closing date.”
