Thousands of Swisse Color Run participants can become a library member at Sunshine Coast Council’s ‘pop-up’ library between 7am and noon on Sunday, October 12 at Sunshine Coast Stadium.

Community Programs Portfolio Councillor Jenny McKay said Sunshine Coast Libraries will host a ‘pop-up’ library at the Swiss Color Run to promote the library service’s links to health, fitness and wellbeing.

“Our energetic library staff will be supporting the Color Run’s philosophy of celebrating healthiness, happiness and individuality,” Cr McKay said.

“This will be an opportunity for the Color Run participants to discover the vast collection of health, wellbeing and fitness books and online resources.

“Our libraries are dynamic, innovative, and effective community hubs. They provide easy access to a diverse range of information and learning opportunities as well as programs and events that meet the community needs.

“The ‘popup’ library will be running a Selfie Stick giveaway promotion which enables new members to sign up before 31 October 2014 and go in the running to win a Selfie Stick.”

The fun run will be followed by a family-friendly ‘Finish Festival’ with music, activities and expos. Anyone who wants to join in the fun on Sunday, October 12 can still buy tickets at www.thecolorrun.com. Tickets are available online until 6pm Saturday October 11 unless sold out prior.

Visit Council’s library website for details about the wide variety of services available for free at libraries across the Coast.
