With theatre, movies, drumming, circus and an adventure playground, there is plenty of entertainment for children these Easter school holidays at Sunshine Coast Council’s performance venues, Lake Kawana Community Centre and Nambour Civic Centre.

Every child gets the chance to use a drum and play with different percussion instruments including shakers, bells and other surprises at the drumming workshops at Nambour Civic Centre on Wednesday, April 9.

Always wanted to join the circus? Here is your chance to enjoy a full day of circus fun at the Circa Holiday Circus Workshop on Wednesday, April 16.

The Nambour Arthouse Cinema will screen popular children’s movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 during the first week of the holidays. Tickets are just $9 per person and each child receives a free popcorn.

Lake Kawana Community Centre will delight audiences with The Treasure of Captain Curlylocks, a world-premiere play by acclaimed children’s writer and performer Nadia Sunde on Thursday, April 10. Set sail on a hilarious journey to a land where the imagination runs free and belly-laughs are the order of the day.

See Lake Kawana Community Centre transform into an adventure playground for children on Tuesday, April 15. With five large themed jumping castles, children can enjoy unlimited jumps and other fun activities for just $10 per hour. These are no ordinary jumping castles offering fun for children 12 years and under.

For those parents looking for a dance event to stimulate their children’s senses, the Events Centre Caloundra presents a performance of Don Quixote by the Imperial Russian Ballet Company on April 10. The Imperial Russian Ballet Company returns to Australia to perform their full-length version of Don Quixote after a successful 2013 season of A Festival of Russian Ballet.

The Events Centre Caloundra also offers a chance for children to be amazed by the talent of Pianist Avan Yu, one of Canada’s most exciting pianists on Sunday April 13. Avan Yu sprang to international attention when he triumphed at the Sydney International Piano Competition in 2012.

To avoid disappointment early bookings are encouraged for all holiday events by calling Nambour Civic Centre on 5475 7777, Lake Kawana Community Centre on 5413 1400, or The Events Centre Caloundra on 5491 4240 or online at www.scvenuesandevents.com.au or www.theeventscentre.com.au.
