An initiative of the State Government, Advance Queensland provides a range of programs designed to drive innovation, create knowledge-based jobs of the future and position Queensland as a place where entrepreneurs, industry, universities and government work together to turn great ideas into commercial products and businesses that create jobs.
Economic Development Portfolio Councillor Stephen Robinson said the council-supported event aimed to provide potential entrepreneurs with the confidence to turn their ideas into a business.
“This workshop will show attendees how to clearly communicate their business model, value proposition and user requirements with stakeholders including investors, designers and developers,” Cr Robinson said.
“It will provide a demonstration of the tools required to define or refine a business model, delve deeper into a business proposition, communicate a product effectively, define product users and what they want and demonstrate how coding can enhance a business.
“Council is very pleased to support workshops, programs and initiatives like ‘Building a business with code’ because they encourage local people who have an idea for a business and show them how to make that idea a reality.”
The building a business with code workshop will be held at the Imperial Hotel Eumundi from 8:30am to 1pm on Thursday August 25. Maroochy Chamber of Commerce President Troy Deighton said the Sunshine Coast was a supportive region for new technology-based companies.
“The Sunshine Coast is becoming a hub for a vast range of new digital technology businesses and start-ups and it’s terrific to see support and encouragement for local entrepreneurs through workshops like this one,” Mr Deighton said.
“Having run a digital agency overseas I can appreciate just how important technology is nowadays in all forms for businesses who are looking to move forward and not get left behind. So these types of workshops really are a must for businesses looking to get started and move forward.”
