The land slip affected Bald Knob Road will be opened to local residents from this evening to allow access from Maleny Road.

Deputy Local Disaster Coordinator Andrew Ryan said traffic controllers were on site and one lane would be opened to local traffic only.

"With London Creek flooding another section of Bald Knob Road there would be no way to and from home for around 250 residents that live in this area," he said.

"We have conducted some work to control the slip area and will allow vehicle access to local residents onto Bald Knob Road from Maleny Road.

"On-site traffic controllers will monitor the site throughout the night and report to council if the situation changes."

Mr Ryan said a section of Bald Knob Road around 2km from the Landsborough Maleny Road had dropped by about 300-500mm as a result of last week’s heavy rain.

"Council closed the road to all traffic last Friday and will be undertaking reconstruction works to repair it as soon as the weather will allow," he said.

Landsborough bound traffic is currently being detoured via Old Gympie Road while Maleny bound traffic is being detoured via Maleny Stanley River Road.
